Cameroon has one of the most diversified economies in the CEMAC region, with major employers spread across the public sector, banking, telecoms, energy, agriculture, and construction industries. The country’s workforce exceeds 8 million active workers, creating opportunities across both local and international companies.

The public sector remains the largest employer, including government ministries, local administrations, security forces, and the education system. Major state-owned companies include SONARA, CAMTEL, and CAMAIR-CO.

Banking is another key employer, led by institutions such as Afriland First Bank, UBA Cameroun, and Société Générale Cameroun.

In telecommunications, MTN Cameroon and Orange Cameroun are among the country’s biggest private employers.

The energy and industrial sectors are also important, with companies such as SNH, ENEO Cameroon, and ALUCAM employing thousands of workers.

Agriculture continues to play a major role in employment through companies like CDC, SOCAPALM, and HEVECAM.

Other major employers include logistics giant CAMRAIL, construction firms such as SOGEA-SATOM, and international organizations including World Bank and United Nations Development Programme.

Today, Douala and Yaoundé remain the country’s main employment hubs, especially in telecoms, banking, services, and agro-industry.
